Antarctica

Should you go to Antarctica? 🤷

Don’t get me wrong, Antarctica is really cool; but let’s be real, it’s an expensive and somewhat gimmicky trip. I love that I could check this off the bucket list and in conversations it’s a pretty sweet ice breaker. If that’s appealing, you can have a great time, do some awesome activities, and take a look at our adventure to see what to expect! Otherwise, the amount you spend going to Antarctica could probably be used on a more comfortable/intimate trip elsewhere. Either way it’s our pleasure to share our journey to one of the most isolated regions of the globe.

Before you go make sure you pack the following…

  • Waterproof Shoes : You’ll be hiking in the ice and snow and are bound to get wet. Wet socks are definitely the worst feeling. I found mountaineering boots these very comfortable.

  • Waterproof Pants : A must have. I actually just brought my snow pants I use for snowboarding/skiing.

  • Jacket : I suggest bringing as thinner snow jacket as it does get pretty warm in Antarctica (I also tend to get on the warmer side)

  • Base Layers : Bring a few thin & comfy base layers these will come in handy to keep you warm on your snow treks.

  • Warm Socks : I hate cold feet so these were the first things I packed for my trip. Ahhh yes….warm wool socks.

  • Sunglasses : You’ll want these when the sun is beaming down on the snow reflecting bright light everywhere. Unless you enjoy squinting then so be it ~

  • Scarf : Nice addition to your outfit and it will keep you warm!

  • Gloves : Don’t forget these, I brought the same ones I use for snowboarding/skiing.

  • Everyday Clothes : You’ll want these for when you are chilling aboard the boat (some casual pants and long sleeve shirts)

  • Backpack : How are you going to carry all your things without one?!

  • Sunscreen : Oh yes… remember the sunscreen…getting burned is not fun at all…and yes you can get burned in Antarctica it actually gets really sunny.

  • Waterproof Bags : I suggest bringing a small dry sack/dry bag for things you definitely don’t want to get wet, yet still want to carry around with you on your adventure.

  • Other things you may want to bring : Moisturizer, lip balm, beanie, ear plugs, eye mask, camera, seasick medication (the boat did rock quite a bit)

Now you’re ready for your Antarctica Expedition !
